Birds of War Birds of Prey

Contrails of war birds
Criss-cross angrily
Polluting the summer sky
With their whiteness
Eggs full of death
Drop from their pregnant bellies
Blood, bone, flesh and sinew
Are mashed together
Women with babes in arms
Men carrying young children
Scream in fear
Scream in pain
Scream as the fire consumes them
Dark greasy spots
Are the remains
Of dog of cat
Of man of woman
Of baby of child
And above
The birds of prey circle
Looking for movement
Their bellies still half full
Still swollen with eggs of death
